 Hello!
Welcome to the first edition of speakOUTCOME, the new quarterly mailing from OUTCOME. Firstly I'd like to introduce myself, I'm OUTCOME's new National Co-ordinator and it's my job to help bring together all of OUTCOME's work within the Co-ordinating Group.
I've been involved with OUTCOME for a couple of years now and I was on the Co-ordinating Group last year. I'm based in the Birmingham District, training as a Local Preacher and regularly play as an Organist and Pianist in my local circuit. I graduated with a Theology degree from Birmingham University last year and I'm now working in a Primary School, hoping to train as a teacher in the near future.
We have a challenging few years ahead of us, especially with the Review of the Derby Resolutions (which you can read more about below). But I believe that we are called by God to remind the Church that Jesus' mission has always been to include - never exclude. 1993 Derby Resolutions Review
As you may already know the Methodist Church is currently looking at whether the Derby Resolutions should be changed. We're having a look at this and have a meeting soon to discuss our response, but we'd really like to know what your views are. Firstly we'd like to emphasise how important it is that you respond to the working group and let them know what you think. You can do that by going here. Please also let us know what you've responded with, this will help inform our response. We will be sending out the results of our discussions in May so you can see what we will be saying on your behalf. But please, please make sure that you let the working group know what you think directly (the deadline is 29th June 2007) otherwise our voices will not be heard!

We're currently looking at how we can make OUTCOME more effective in its work and would really like to hear from you. Remember OUTCOME is here to represent its LGBT members and to do that effectively we need to know what people think - so if you have any thoughts please do get in touch! Some of the ideas we're hoping to introduce on the website include discussion boards and prayer requests. We're also looking at how we might better structure our membership. If you have any thoughts - let us know what you think!
Networking
We would especially like to hear any thoughts about how we might better network people - and we're looking for a representative from the North and from the South to bring together people at social events. If you're interested in taking on this role - please do get in touch!
